DFM Consultation
Design for Manufacturability reviews that catch problems before production — saving you time, money, and revisions.
Request a DFM ReviewWhat Is DFM?
Design for Manufacturability (DFM) is the practice of reviewing a part design before production to identify features that are difficult, expensive, or impossible to manufacture. A good DFM review reduces cost, shortens lead times, and improves part quality — all before a single chip is cut or a mold is made.
At Fabsector, DFM is included with every quote at no extra charge. But if you're earlier in the design process and want feedback before your CAD is finalized, we also offer standalone DFM consultations.
What We Review
Our DFM review covers wall thickness and uniformity, draft angles for molded parts, undercuts and their alternatives, tolerance stackup and achievability, material selection for the intended process, surface finish expectations vs. process capability, and assembly considerations like press fits, snap fits, and fastener access.
How It Works
Send us your 3D model (STEP, STP, or IGES) along with any drawings or specifications. Our engineering team reviews the design, creates an annotated DFM report highlighting potential issues, and recommends specific changes with rationale. Turnaround is typically 1–2 business days.
Who Benefits
DFM consultation is especially valuable for hardware startups moving from prototype to production, engineering teams designing parts for a new manufacturing process, and companies switching suppliers who want a fresh set of eyes on existing designs. Whether you're designing for CNC machining, sheet metal, injection molding, or 3D printing, we can help optimize your part for the process.
